Brief Information About Agoura
Agoura is an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, which is located southeast of the city of Agoura Hills, California, next to the city of Calabasas in Los Angeles County. Agoura was the historical name of the area, before much of the area was developed and before the incorporation of the City of Agoura Hills, and the name comes from a misspelling of the last name of Pierre Agoure who had been an immigrant rancher settled in the area in late nineteenth century.
In the 1920s, the community was briefly known as Picture City. This was because Paramount Pictures owned a ranch in the area used for filming Westerns.
