Brief Information About Algiers
Algiers is a neighborhood within the city of New Orleans: it is the portion of Orleans Parish on the West Bank of the Mississippi River.
New Orleans carnival krewes have their warehouses in this neighbourhood. Algiers Point was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The area also has a number of churches.
Algiers suffered considerable damage due to Hurricane Katrina, it escaped the flooding which affected most of the East Bank.
