Brief Information About Alta Vista

Alta Vista is a city in Wabaunsee County, Kansas. It is part of the Topeka, Kansas Metropolitan Statistical Area, and its population at the 2010 census was 444.

In 1887, a rail line was built from Topeka through Alta Vista to Herington. This changed hands a number of times and eventually merged in 1997 with Union Pacific Railroad. The locals still refer to this railroad as the "Rock Island".

The city population predominantly comprises White Americans. A sizeable percentage of the population are people of Hispanic origin.
