Brief Information About Anthony

Anthony is an unincorporated community in Marion County, Florida state. The community is part of the Ocala Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named after Edwin Clark Anthony who bought land from the pioneer Jacob Leitner. It was incorporated in 1892, but was disincorporated due to financial pressures in 1935. Phosphate mining used to be a significant activity in the area.
