Ashton is a city in Fremont County, Idaho state. It is part of the Rexburg, Idaho Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city's population at the 2000 census was 1,129.
It was primarily established as a farming community. It also hosted the famous Dog Derby.
The district is noted for seed potato production, and claims to be the world's largest seed potato growing area. This is in part due to the increased precipation due to its location in the Snake River Plain.
