Pottery Instruction in Athens, GA
Helpful Definition for: Pottery Instruction
Athens has schools or institutes for learning how to make pottery. Pottery is the art of moulding clay into differently shaped pots or even other similar artwork. This is a complicated task with several steps, separated over a period of time. First, you learn to shape the pot. After it dries, it is fired in an oven, known as bisque firing. The bisque ware is then glazed and waxed, after which the pot is properly finished, and is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. These classes may be specifically for adults, or can also be hobby classes for children. They may be beginners' courses, or for more practised students. They are conducted at different times and run for different durations in Athens. You must be prepared for lessons with proper supplies and clothing. Materials are usually supplied by the school or the teacher, but do enquire ahead. Pottery is a beautiful art that gives real satisfaction of creating something pretty and/or utilitarian.
