Brief Information About Atkins
Atkins is a city in Pope County, Arkansas state. At the 2000 census the population was 2,878. It is part of the Russellville Micropolitan Statistical Area. Many residents of the city commute to nearby Russellville for work, school, and recreation due to its close location.
Atkins has long been identified as the pickle capital of Arkansas, although the pickle industry is only a part of its heritage now. The city grew up along the railroad, served as a center for river traffic, and is now situated along a major interstate highway. Lake Atkins nearby is a popular fishing destination.
