Helpful Definition for: Billiards & Pool

'Billiards' is a leisure sport played on a billiard table in Aurora. The equipment used are a stick known as cue stick, billiard balls, rack, scoreboard, dart board, chalk, mirror lights and cloth-covered table with pockets and cushion boundaries. The cue stick is used to hit the balls, moving around the table and score points. This indoor game increases one's focus and attention and also sharpens one's practical knowledge of physics and geometry. Pool and billiards both are a type of cue sports in Aurora and this is the only similarity between the two. Generally, 'pool' is not the real name of the sport. The game which we now refer to as 'pool' was initially known as pocket billiards. In pool, there are 16 cue balls. There would be one black, one white, seven yellow, and seven red balls. 'Billiards' comprises of only three balls: one black, one white and one red. Cloth used on a 'pool' table makes the movement of the cue balls a little slow, whereas the cloth used on the 'billiards' table makes movement fast and as a result it helps the ball move swiftly. The cue sticks used in pool game are generally longer and are very slender. However, the cue sticks used in billiards are shorter and thicker with a small tip.
