Avon-by-the-Sea is a Borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Its population at the 2010 census was 1,901. The borough was incorporated in 1900, from parts of Neptune City.

The borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles, of which 0.4 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles (21.82%) is water.

The economy is primarily based on local businesses, professional services, sales and service, production, construction and transport of materials.
