Brief Information About Barnstead
Barnstead is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire. Its population at the 2010 census was 4,593. Villages included within the town are Center Barnstead, Barnstead Parade and South Barnstead. The Suncook Lakes are also located here.
Historically, the important occupations here include grazing, agriculture, and mills which ran on water power. By the middle of nineteenth century, industries included a woolen cloth factory, seven sawmills, four shingle mills, four clapboard mills, one grooving machine, one turning machine, and two tanneries. Lumber was also manufactured here.
