Brief Information About Battle Mountain
Battle Mountain is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lander County, Nevada. In spite of no legal status as a municipality, it functions as the county seat. Its population at the 2000 census was 2,871.
The main contributors to the economy here are gold mining and to some extent, legalized gaming. Battle Mountain also hosts bike races for human powered vehicles. The 'Pony Express', the longest open road race in the country, starts and terminates here.
The population has a majority of White Americans. A significant percentage of the population comprises people of Hispanic origin.
