Bay Head is a Borough in Ocean County, New Jersey. It is part of the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island Metro Area. Its population at the 2010 census was 968. The borough is is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. It was incorporated in 1886. The borough has a total area of 0.70 square miles, of which 0.59 square miles is land and 0.11 square miles (15.71%) is water.
The historic district in Bay Head is noted for a large number of well-preserved Shingle Style, Stick Style, and Queen Anne Style structures.
The economy is primarily based on management and financial operations, local businesses, professional services, sales and service. To a minor extent production, construction and transport of materials is also carried out here.
