Brief Information About Belfry
Belfry is a census-designated place (CDP) in Carbon County, Montana. It is part of the Billings, Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area, and its population at the 2000 census was 217. It is located about halfway between Billings, Montana and Cody, Wyoming.
The area is primarily agricultural. The residents have farmlands and ranches. The main crops are sugar beets, alfalfa, and feed corn. Sheep and cattle are reared as well. The coal mines in Bearcreek caused a rail line to pass through here, but it was removed when coal production declined.
The population predominantly comprises White Americans. A small percentage of the population comprises people of Hispanic origin.
