Brief Information About Bethany Beach
Bethany Beach is an incorporated town in Sussex County, Delaware state. Its population is 1,060, but during the summer months it gets almost 15,000 visitors, making tourism the main contributor to the town's economy. It is part of the Seaford, Delaware Micropolitan Statistical Area. Bethany Beach is popular as a "quiet resort", reinforced by the presence of Delaware Seashore State Park immediately to the north of the town, a six mile-long barrier island.
Over the winter of 2008-2009, the town's beaches underwent a vast beach replenishment program that cost the U.S. federal government approximately $20 million. A significant amount of the work done was damaged by the remnants of a tropical storm in November 2009.
