Big Rapids is a city located within the area of Big Rapids township. It also serves as the County seat of Mescota County. With a total area of about 11.5 sq. kms., the town is located at an elevated height of about 925 ft above the ground level. Most of the local population are primarily engaged in a number of economic activities related with education, shops and stores, retail and the local healthcare sectors.
