Bloomfield is a city in San Juan County, New Mexico. It is part of the Farmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, and its population at the 2000 census was 6,420. The city has a total area of 5.1 square miles. 5.0 square miles of it is land and 0.1 square miles of it (0.99%) is water.
To the west of the city is the Salmon Ruins pueblo and museum, along Highway 64. The homestead of George Salmon is open for public viewing as well. The Aztec Ruins, about 15 miles to the north in the town of Aztec, and the Chaco Culture National Historical Park, approximately 50 miles to the south, are other attractions within driving distance.
