With a total area of about 43 sq. kms., Center Harbor is located in the County of Belknap. The small town of Center Harbor is elevated from the ground by about 555 ft. and is located almost at the center of Lake Squam and Lake Winnipesukee.

Though there are a number of diaries and duck farms but the local economy is primarily based on tourism. The service industry is gradually booming in the town with a rising number of retail stores catering to the tourist community as well as the locals. There are a number of schools in the area and they take care of the local educational needs of the town.

The 4th July celebration takes a grand shape with a road race featuring along with a concert and fireworks. Some notable residents of the town are B. Leighton and P. Pitou.
