Columbus is a small city located in the County of Lowndes. The city is located just above the river of Tombigbee in Mississippi. Columbus is also the County seat of Lowndes. It is located within the MSA of Columbus. Covering a total area of about 58 sq. kms., Columbus is located at an elevated height of about 218 ft. above the ground level.
