The act of riding and performing tasks using a skateboard is known as Skateboarding in Copperas Cove, and the person who does the same is referred to as a skateboarder, or more colloquially, as a skater. Skateboarding is a relatively modern art, developed sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The current boards are about 7¼ to 8 inches wide and 30 to 32 inches long. While skateboarding started as an act of fun and portrayed an image of a rebellious, non-conforming youth; in recent times it has gained more prominence with the increase in the number of professional skaters.

Like skateboarding, Roller-blading is also a form of recreation as well as sports in Copperas Cove; however, instead of skates, roller-blading is done on roller blades.
