Dallas has blood typing and testing facilities available. Blood typing is a test by which one can determine the specific type of blood one has. This depends on whether certain proteins (called antigens) are present in blood or not. This is done for all donated blood, which is needed for patients in case of anemia, trauma or injury, cancer and hemophilia, among others. This test is also carried out for pregnant women to determine the blood type of the fetus (as some complications may result from a different blood group from the mother).
