Hardware denotes the physical artifacts of a technology. Industrial processes refer to the chemical or mechanical procedures employed in manufacturing of an item or items, usually on a very large scale. A machine is a device that uses energy to carry out some process.

A machine tool is a mechanical device, which fabricate metal components of machines by selective removal of metal. Tools produce an item or achieve a task, but do not get consumed in the process.
