East Greenwich is a town in and the county seat of Kent County, Rhode Island. The town was settled in the late seventeenth century. It is considered the wealthiest municipality in the state. It was named after the city in England. It is part of the Providence-New Bedford-Fall River Metro Area, and has a total area of 16.71 square miles. 16.58 sqaure miles of the area is land, and the rest is water. The town was incorporated in 1677.
