The outer covering or cladding of a house meant to shed water and protect from the effects of weather is known as shedding. On a building that uses siding, it may act as a key element in the decoration of the building and directly influence its property value. Siding may be formed of horizontal boards or vertical boards and may be made of wood, metal or other composite materials. It may be attached directly to the building or to an intermediate layer of horizontal planks, called sheathing. People who work on these sidings of buildings are known as Siding Contractors. In Fountain Valley, a variety of sidings are available and the most common type is wood siding which is made of naturally weather resistant woods, such as redwood or cedar.
