A Stable, in Granite Bay, is a place where animals, especially horses are kept. It is usually a building that is divided into different stalls for individual animals. The word 'stable' is also used to define a group of animals kept by one owner regardless of housing. The design and size of stables can vary widely with a variety of materials being used including bricks, wood and even steel, and from a small building to house only a couple of animals to the facilities used at agricultural farms and race tracks that can house hundreds of animals. Stables are usually unheated and well-ventilated as horses may develop respiratory problems if kept in damp and stuffy conditions. Some large stables in Granite Bay  also have separate areas for feeding, veterinary treatment and washing area. Different types of horses are kept in different types of boxes in a stable, for example, Mares are kept in double stalls, Stallions, are kept alone and are often given larger quarters. Ponies sometimes are kept in smaller box stalls, and warm bloods or draft horses may need larger ones. Horses kept in stables need regular exercise as they may develop stable vice if they are not given work.
