Desserts that are prepared by freezing liquids, semi-solids & sometimes solids are called frozen desserts. There are various types of frozen desserts depending on their basic ingredients. They may be made from flavored water, fruit purées, milk & cream, custard or mousse.

Ice cream is a frozen dessert having a smooth creamy structure, generally prepared from dairy products, like milk and cream, and often in combination with fruits or other ingredients and flavors, sugar or other sweeteners & coloring agents. All the ingredients are stirred slowly in a mixture while cooling to prevent formation of large ice crystals. A large variety of ice creams are available in Holland.
