What Is: Expos?
Expo is a word that originated during the 1960s as a shortened version of the word "exposition," which is defined as the action of setting something out for public view. Expos are large, sometimes international, public displays of various types of goods. The most notable expo was probably the Montreal World's Fair, known as Expo '67, which also provided the name for the former Montreal Expos baseball team. Today, an expo can be a fair, trade show or other type of large exhibit, but the term is most commonly used to describe industrial trade shows such as annual technology or computer expos. There, various businesses in the same industry display their products to the public and have representatives available to discuss them with expo patrons. Expos may also take the form of large art shows or other types of product exhibitions. They are commonly held in convention centers, sports stadiums, civic arenas or outdoors on fairgrounds.
