Jasper is a city with an area of about 69.7 sq. kms. and situated at 329 ft. above the sea level. The city of Jasper is located in the County of Walker. Tourism is an important part of the local economy. A number of places are registered in the National Register of historic Places like House of John Hollis Bankhead, Methodist Church of First United and many others. Education and Media are also an important part of the local economy. The local people are also involved with the seasonal and regional tourism in the area. A noted local resident is J.H. Bankhead II, U.S senator.
