Nurseries are places where plants are grown and sold to various sections of customers. There are different types of nurseries in North Smithfield, which include retail nurseries, wholesale nurseries and private nurseries.  Retail nurseries sell plants and plant products to the general public. Wholesale nurseries sell only to businesses, such as other nurseries and to commercial gardeners. Private nurseries, on the other hand, only supply to private estates and institutions in North Smithfield.

Greenhouses are used for nurturing the plants and promoting optimum growth conditions. A business swells more in autumn and spring, when growth of plants is abundant.
