The city of Springville is located in St. Clair County, Alabama. It has an estimated total area of 6.4 square miles at 33°46′8″N 86°28′16″W. The elevation is about 725 feet above sea level. Springville was formerly called Big Springs which derived from a spring as the primary source of drinking water in this area. The historic city became incorporated in 1880. Throughout the years, previous local leaders changed the name from Big Springs to Springville.
