Adel is a city in Cook County, Georgia state. The city's population was 5,344 as per the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County.
Adel was originally known as Puddleville. The current name is believed to have been given by the city's first postmaster, adapted from "Philadelphia" by removing the first and last four letters in it.
The town has almost equal White American and African American populations. A small percentage of the population is from other races.
