Alachua is a city in Alachua County, Florida state. As per the 2010 census, its population was 7,554. The city is part of the Gainesville, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was incorporated on 12 April, 1905.
The largest Hare Krishna community in the Western Hemisphere is located in Alachua, and it has a number of satellite communities throughout North Florida. The population has a majority of White Americans, with sizeable African American population as well.
