Located on Alameda and Bay Farm Islands and close to Oakland in the San Francisco Bay, the city of Alameda holds an estimated population of 79,928. It runs an area of 60 kms2 of which 27kms2 is land and 32 kms2 is water. The name "Alameda" suggests that it is an 'island city'.
