Alcoa is a city in Blount County, Tennessee. It is part of the Knoxville Metro Area, and has a total area of 14.8 square miles. 13.8 square miles of the area is land, and the rest is water. The name is after a large alumunium plant in the city, run by the Alcoa corporation. Initially named Maryville, the name was changed and incorporated in 1919.

While the dependence on Alcoa and its outfit here has decreased considerably over the years, it is still a major employer in the area. Administrative and support and waste management services and transport are the other contributors to the local economy. Public education comprises one elementary, one middle and one high school. The closest hospital is the Blount Memorial Hospital, located about 6 miles away in Maryville. The cost of living here is 13.90% lower than the country average.
