Located on the West Bank of the river, Potomac. It has a total area of about 15 sq. miles.The city is mostly inhabited by professionals and some of the largest employers includes the U.S Defense Dept., Naval Analysis Center and the Defense Analysis Center. Apart from this, Alexandria has a diversified history, like the Market Square of Old town, Gadsby's Tavern, torpedo factory among others. Other places of interest includes the National Masonic Memorial, named after the first President of U.S, Tavern of Gadsby, Theological Seminary of Virginia etc. There is a flourishing service industry based on tourism and most of the residents are engaged in it.
