Alliance is a city spread between the Stark and Mahoning counties in Ohio. It falls within the Canton-Massillon Metro Area, and has a total area of 8.6 square miles, all of which is land. The Mahoning River flows through the city. The city is also known as "The Carnation City". This is because of the state flower being from here, the scarlet carnation. The flower was designated as such in 1904. The city was founded in 1854, and was incorporated in 1889.
