Barbourville is a city in and the county seat of Knox County, Kentucky. Its population at the 2000 census was 3,589.
The city is home to Union College and the Appalachian Children's Home. It also hosts the Daniel Boone Festival commemorating the American pioneer Daniel Boone who explored the area in 1775. The festival features open air concerts, carnival attractions, a beauty pageant, a parade, and other events. The Springtime Redbud Festival is another event that has been started recently.
