The town of Battleboro merged with the much larger city of Rocky Mount in the year 1996. Both of them lie in the coastal plain of North Carolina.Battleboro is located in the Edgecombe county, within the area of North Carolina MSA. The land of art and culture, Battleboro is quite advanced with a number of Art Centers, childrens museum and Community theatre. Battleboro has a total area of about 93 sq. kms. and situated at an elevated height of about 128 ft. from the ground level. The Rocky Mount Mills village, located nearby, is historically beautiful. The transportation sector is fairly advanced with road, rail and air-tansport facilities in the town. There is the General Hospital of Nash. There is the Public School System of Nash-Rocky Mount operates a number of public schools in the area. There are also a number of private and charter schools in the town.
