Bear Lake has a total area of about 0.4 sq. miles and is elevated at a point of about 790 ft above the sea level. Though lumbering was the principal industry of that region, later, the locals shifted their focus to the tourism sector in the summers and to a lesser extent agriculture. Local industry generally comprises of fruits and natural gas and oil. The local school system is also quite advanced in the area. A National and a State Forest is located nearby and it also attracts a significant number of tourists from outside. This also aides the local economy to grow on a substantial basis.
