Brief Information About Belcourt


Belcourt is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rolette County, North Dakota. It has a total area of 6.1 square miles. 5.8 square miles of the area is land, and the rest is water. The CDP is within the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, and is the seat of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. The area is named after Georges-Antoine Belcourt, a French Jesuit missionary who worked here.

Educational services, public administration and construction are the major commercial activites here. Public schooling comprises one elementary, one middle, one high and one alternative school. Higher education can be obtained from the Turtle Mountain Community College. PHS Indian Hospital is the local hospital. Turtle Mountain State Bank has the local headquarters here.
