Belzoni is a city in Humphreys County, Mississippi. It is in the Mississippi Delta region, on the Yazoo River. It is the county seat of Humphreys County, and its population at the 2000 census was 2,662.
The city is famous as "Catfish Capital" (a title claimed by other cities too), for the 60% of U.S. farm-raised catfish that are grown within a 65-mile radius of Belzoni. Every April, the World Catfish Festival is also held here.
The city has one local newspaper, and a couple of radio stations.
The population has a majority of African Americans. A significant percentage of the population comrpises White Americans.
