Benton is a town in and the county seat of Polk County, Tennessee. It is part of the Cleveland Metro Area, and has a total area of 2.3 square miles, all of which is land. The town is close to the confluence of the Ocoee River and the Hiwassee River. Benton was established as the county seat in 1840.
