Big Creek is a small community town located in the County of Fresno. It has a total area of about 2 sq. kms. and it is situated 4985 ft. above sea level. Big Creek is actually located in the mountains of Sierra Nevada, which is located on the northern bank of Big Creek. The economy of the city revolves around industries involve in hotels, properety rental agencies and marinas. Majority of the workforce are associated as dealers of camping equipments, recreation vehicles, ski and snowboard. Local residents are attached to tourist information centers, public schools and convenience stores. A major green initiative of the forest department of Big Creek Lumber is to harvest its forestlands, in harmony with the California Forest Practice Rules. To preserve a healthy forest ecosystem, selective harvesting is practised throughout the forest. Other forest harvest practices including riparian setbacks and improved road surfacing minimizes erosion. Appropriately managed forests provide renewable and sustainable products for local markets.
