Helpful Definition for: Air Conditioning & Heating

Air condition in Colorado Springs helps to remove the heat from indoors by cooling the air for thermal comfort. The comfort applications aim to provide a building indoor environment that remains relatively constant in a range preferred by humans, despite changes in external weather conditions or in internal heat loads.

In milder winter climates, where temperature is quite low, heat pumps are used. Heat pump in Colorado Springs is a term for a type of air conditioner in which the refrigeration cycle is able to be reversed, producing heat instead of cold in the indoor environment, commonly referred to, and marketed as, a reverse cycle air conditioner. Some home-owners in Colorado Springs elect to have a heat pump system installed, which is actually simply a central air conditioner with heat pump functionality, that is the refrigeration cycle is reversed in the winter. When the heat pump is enabled, the indoor evaporator coil switches roles and becomes the condenser coil, producing heat. The outdoor condenser unit also switches roles to serve as the evaporator, and produces cold air that is colder than the ambient outdoor air.

This is due to the problem of the outdoor unit's coil forming ice, which blocks air flow over the coil. To compensate for this, the heat pump system must temporarily switch back into the regular air conditioning mode to switch the outdoor evaporator coil back to being the condenser coil so that it can heat up and de-ice. A heat pump system has a form of electric resistance heating in the indoor air path that is activated only in this mode in order to compensate for the temporary air conditioning, which would otherwise generate undesirable cold air in the winter.

Americans Top Environmental Concern? It’s Their Drinking Water
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – As far as the environment is concerned, there are a number of factors that people should be worrying about these days, from climate change to micro-plastics to poisons infiltrating the very air we breathe, in addition to a whole host of other vile maladies that can be harmful to our collective health. Scientists Conducting Research into Fluorinated Pollutants Known As PFAs
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – Scientists have been placing a growing emphasis on a series of commonly-found – but until recently misunderstood – chemicals typically utilized in the creation of consumer products such as water-resistant clothing, stain-resistant furniture, nonstick cookware, and more, focusing mainly on their intrusion into the environment and the subsequent potential health risks to human beings. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl are perfluorinated chemicals – or PFAs for short – were created in the mid-20th century and have found widespread u...

The Threat of Plastic on the Environment Evolves into “Microplastics”
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – As if the danger that discarded, non-biodegradable plastics pose to the environment aren’t enough, a new breed is making its presence felt; a dangerous evolution known as “Microplastics.” Microplastics are not a specific kind of plastic, but rather any type of plastic fragment that is less than five millimeters in length; they enter natural ecosystems from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, cosmetics, clothing, and industrial processes. Some Microplastics enter the environment directly as a result of various sour...

Bioplastics – Not Good for the Environment After All?
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – According to recent reports, bioplastics would conceivably be as bad – if not worse – for the environment than conventional plastics, news that is taking a lot of green advocates completely by surprise. Bioplastics are plastics derived from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, food waste, etc. Bioplastic can be made from agricultural by-products and also from used plastic bottles and other containers using microorganisms. Common plastics, such as fossil-fuel plastics (also call...
