A census-designated and unincorporated place in the Los Angeles County of California in the US, East Compton is originally East Rancho Dominguez. Its sphere of influence is the city of Compton; to the north is the city of Lynwood; Long Beach Freeway, the Los Angeles River and the city of Paramount are in the east; the city of Long Beach lies in the south.East Compton has a total area of 2.1km2, all of which is land.
The 2010 US Census reported its population at 15,135 with a racial composition of 31.5% White, 15.9% Afro-Americans, 0.9% Native Americans, 0.2% Asians, 0.7% Pacific Islanders and 47.3% of other races.Human service organisations, health clinics and services for senior citizens operate as major businesses in the area.
