With a total area of about 49 sq. miles, Elgin is a small town of Santa Cruz County. This place is quite famous for its wine making, since its soil is said to be similar with the soil of Burgundy, France. Some of the famous wine brands from the area includes Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir etc. Around 50,000 gallons of wine are produced here on an annual basis. It is naturally a major part of the local economy. This wine making also led to the establishment of many restaurants in the area.
