Horrible Service & Representation
Date Submitted: 2011-08-02
We were VERY dissatisfied with Ken’s service. My boyfriend (who I will refer to as John) was in a car accident and charged with felonious assault after another vehicle tried to run him off the road. The eye witness was an off-duty Sheriff, who just happened to be the relative of the 18 or 19 year old that tried to run John off the road. Ken was supposed to be one of the best Flint lawyers, so I called him (NOT at all knowing what I was in for). After numerous attempts to contact Ken he finally returned my call, AFTER John spent nearly 72 hours in jail. When he did finally call me, Ken told me if I didn’t hire him right away (before John was arraigned) John might not be able to post bail. That should have been the clue that all he wanted was our money. Throughout the entire process Ken was unreachable. He only showed up minutes before the court dates. Ken said the best thing would be for John to file a plea for a Circuit Court Misdemeanor. Ken promised no jail time, only probation. The day of sentencing Ken walks in (maybe 10 min before) and says, “I’m not too happy with this pre-sentencing report.” John was then sentenced to 90 days in jail with 2 years probation. Ken again promising to file an appeal, which we found out later, he never did. (It must have fallen during his vacation). John was asked by his Probation Officer why he didn’t take his case to a jury of his peers and John stated his lawyer said this was his best option. When asked who his lawyer was John said, “Ken Karasick.” The Probation Officer stated that Ken was a crook/idiot and only wanted your money. It’s ridiculous that our judicial system functions this way. Without representation the judges are able to spit on us, but as we found out even with representation some lawyers don’t care, they just use and abuse you. My best advice for anyone reading this would be to not even think about using Ken, unless you don’t care what the outcome is and in that case save your money and go for a court appointed lawyer. Ken should be ashamed of himself.
