Naval Air Station Key West is a naval air station and military airport located in the U.S. state of Florida. It is within Boca Chica Key approximately 4 miles of the central business district of Key West to the east. It coordinates at 24°34′33″N 081°41′20″W. The elevation is 6 feet above sea level. On December 15, 1940, the naval air station was built using a code NQX. It has a total area of 15.3 square miles at 25°6′24″N 80°25′48″W. The elevation is 7 feet above sea level. Naval Air Station Key West hosts tenant commands such Fighter Squadron Composite 111, Strike Fighter Squadron 106 Detachment Key West, the U.S. Army Special Forces Underwater Operations School and Headquarters, and Joint Interagency Task Force South.
