Moffett Field is short for Moffett Federal Airfield which is a joint civil-military airport in an unincorporated part of Santa Clara County of California in the United States. The County is located between southern Mountain View and Sunnyvale in California.
The airport is near the south end of San Francisco Bay and was formerly a United States Navy facility. However, it is now owned and operated by the NASA Ames Research Center. NASA also operates several of its own aircrafts from Moffett.
Moffett Federal Airfield has an average of 5-10 flight landings per day; it has an active airfield with 2 active runways. Moffett is regularly used by the California Air National Guard, NASA, Lockheed Martin Space Systems, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department, and Air Force One during presidential visits to the Bay Area.
It has ceased to be an active military base but despite its closure, Moffett Field still offers many other facilities to its residents like a golf course, tennis courts, a post office and a Commissary.
No population data, however, is available.Advertising and commercial printing services are a couple of businesses in the area.
