Newport is a city located in the island of Aquidneck. It is a part of the Newport County in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It is known as the summer resort of New England. 

The University of Salve Regina is established in the town. There is also a navy taining center in the region. Newport has a total area of about 30 sq. kms., located at an elevated height of about 30 ft above the ground level. Education and tourism are some of the important economic activities of the region.
