Port Orange has firewood available for sale. This refers to wooden material that is used as fuel, usually in fireplaces. Not much processing is required after cutting the wood/branches down. These may be obtained from managed woodlots, or may be the deadwood from natural forests. Chainsaws are used to cut down the branches or the tree. The wood is then split to allow it to season faster. This is usually done by a hydraulic splitting machine. The wood is not moved to a great distance away from its origin, so that invasive species or insects do not spread. The wood is then stored in stacks until distribution and sale in Port Orange. The moisture quantity in the wood determines its heating value. Drier wood has lower moisture value, and thus have higher heating values. The value also depends on the wood quality itself. Many different types of wood are used as firewood, such as from trees like Almond, Apple, Bay, Eucalyptus, Fir, Pine, Oak, and Madrone.
